Diammonium Phosphate is produced by reaction of ammonia with phosphoric acid having chemical formula (NH4)2HPO4 with molar mass of 132.06 g/mol. It is a water soluble compound which is most commonly utilized as fertilizer and also finds application as a fire retardant. Appears as white colored powder, it has melting point of 155 degrees Celsius and shows insolubility with alcohol & liquid ammonia. In winemaking, Diammonium Phosphate is used as yeast nutrient and as flux for tin soldering. It is known to have ability to lower combustion temperature of material and decrease maximum weight loss rates.
